I actually picked up this coat a few year ago while I was living in Istanbul. It was love at first sight, and although I only really get to wear it a handful of times per year, it has a very special place in my heart as a prominent piece of my budding collection.
The wool has gravitas, the color is passionate, feminine, and daring, and details like the circular patch pockets and the black lining of the armholes that dips down into a triangle just above the elbow make it unique and inimitable.
And, although it doesn't exactly scream Puritan, you can certainly sense the designer's Amish influence in the use of rich, thick, almost velvety wool. The huge, sweeping collar is all Queen of Hearts though...!
