New In: Glitter

It's old news that guys hate glitter (excluding trannies and 5 year old arts-and-crafts lovers).

But guess what? Girls love Glitter. Deal with it.

Got these gorgeous Dolce Vita Layna boots in Silver just for the heck of it. I may wear them all the time, I may never wear them, but they're shiny and I love em!

And better yet, they were on sale at Karmaloop.com

Have you guys ever bought something ridiculously impractical just because it made you feel like world peace might someday be possible? Do tell!!!

Cheers,
Renata

Splurge vs. Steal: Ladylike Floral

This season's soft, flouncy, and ladylike florals are a welcome answer to the harsher, graphic florals we've been experimenting with all winter. Erdem had some lovely looks that were nothing short of romantic on their SS12 runways, but if you don't have $3000 to blow, check out my alternatives:

The Outfit: Erdem SS12

The Breakdown:
Blouse, Erdem. $960 Net-a-Porter

Pleated Skirt, $1700 Net-a-Porter

The Challengers:
Blouse, Reiss $230

Skirt, $297 from Les Nouvelles

There you have it! Feel free to send me the savings to fund my shopping habit.

Cheers,
Renata

Spring-Summoning Makeup

Went back in for Round Two of make-up experimentation with my darling friend Elena K (follow her on twitter @makeupaffair). You may remember the first time around, when we did some seriously dramatic makeup with a strong brow and a no-nonsense red Chanel lip. This time we went in a totally fun, crazy direction and did a playful, easy, warm weather look with lots of bright colors for Spring.

Reiss SS12 Fashion Show

Last Thursday, on one of this years few snowy nights here in Boston we ushered in The Sunshine Season at Reiss on Newbury Street. The irony is not lost on me, friends, but it was still the most amazing night ever: Boston's glitterati  celebrated the snow with a night of models, music, gin cocktails, and Cali-inspired fashion from Reiss.

It was my first time officially styling and coordinating a fashion show, and my fellow partner in crime, Menswear Style Curator Jeff Lahans and I killed it! (If I may say so myself...) I had the best time ever, and I can't wait to do it again!

The inspiration behind the collection was California 90's minimalism by way of 1940's poolside culture.

To. Die.

Get ready for Spring!

Renata
