Over the weekend, my BBF (Best Blogger Friend) the Bostonista and I had the chance to attend A Sip in the Park, which was a fundraiser for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
This shindig for a great cause was held at Fenway Park. 150 guests enjoyed wine and beer tastings, great food, and a silent auction benefiting AFSP in the EMC Club high above the diamond.
I think this event was particularly significant because suicide claims the lives of thousands of Americans each year (an estimated 36,000, to be exact) and has a profound effect on those who knew them, but is something that people really don't want to - or know how to - talk about. It was great to have an event that recognizes the devastating effects but that is really about turning it all around by uniting and having a wonderful evening to provide support to fund it's prevention. You can learn more about ASFP here.
There's something so magical about a breezy spring evening in an empty ballpark, under the glow of the Citgo sign:

Cheers,
Renata
